Environmental Action Day – Athens on the Front Line

The event “Environmental Action Day – Athens on the Front Line” was successfully held on 25 September at Serafio of the Municipality of Athens, as part of the initiative “ATHENS 21: Cities & Climate Change”, in the presence of the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas.

Participation was impressive, bringing together citizens, representatives of ministries, researchers, institutional stakeholders, schools, and environmental organizations in a dynamic process of dialogue and co-creation.

Within the framework of the event, three Participatory Workshops for a Green and Resilient Athens were held, with contributions from experts and a lively exchange of ideas among participants, under the guidance and coordination of the Deputy Mayor for Climate Governance and Social Economy, Nikos Chrysogelos.

During the first workshop, “Nature as an Ally,” the projects Cooling Havens and GreenInCities were presented, showcasing interventions focused on nature-based solutions for urban cooling and resilience. At the same time, the workshop provided an opportunity for Cooling Havens to broaden its outreach by presenting some of the solutions to be developed within the project to a wider audience.
